Auto-HomePage script description:

Publisher review:
Auto-HomePage is personal portal software that was designed to allow you to reach that goal. Up until now, only big sites like Yahoo offered their users the ability to create their own custom portal pages.Combining tools such as an Address Book, Calendar, Notepad and a ToDo List with their choice of links and information, you can become the ultimate portal site for your members. By helping them to organize their online experience, you build strong customer loyalty.

Auto-HomePage makes your site part of your members’ daily lives by giving them the tools and information they need on a daily basis. Accessible from any computer with Internet access, you can become their home away from home.
- My News: You set the categories, and your members can choose which ones they want from the list. Each day, news based on their interests is displayed on their personal page. News can be spidered automatically from any XML-based (RSS) source including MoreOver.com, Isyndicate and other RSS sources (some of these are free and some charge a fee - please note that we do not supply any news feeds with the installation).
- My Address Book: Users of your service get a full-featured address book. Entries can be viewed alphabetically or searched for. Several different sorting options will make your users very happy.
- My ToDo List: A fast and intuitive to-do list manager allows members to quickly store a list of jobs. They can also set deadlines and assign them priority ratings.
- My Calendar: A functional calendar that allows members to keep track of their busy lives. They can flip from month to month, and click on a day to get an hourly agenda for that date. From there, they can fill in their schedule. If BAC Calendar is licensed, it replaces the built in calendar adding many additional features.
- My Notepad: Allows users to store unlimited notes for themselves. Accessible through a convenient drop-down menu, users will be able to easily sort through their notes and delete them when no longer valid.
- My X of the Day: This gives you the ability to provide daily changing content for your visitors. You set up the categories (i.e. Joke of the Day, Fun Fact of the Day, etc.) and they decide which ones are shown to them.
- My Links: Members can have their bookmarks and favorite links right on their start page so that they can access them from any computer. You can suggest categories and links of your own that can be toggled on/off by the user. You can even sell these positions to advertisers.
- My Photo: Members can add personal photos to their start page. You can set the default photo and the maximum size, width and height. Photos are cropped (aspect ratio is maintained) to fit within the spot. You can add multiple MyPhoto plugins to allow users to have more than one photo per page.
- My Forums: When combined with CommunityForums, members can select some of their favorite forums to be listed on their start page. Forums containing new messages will automatically be flagged for them.
- My Clubs: When combined with Auto-Clubs, members can select some of their favorite clubs to be listed on their start page.
- My Horoscope: This gives you the ability to provide horoscopes to your members. This grabs your content from the admin and uses the birth date that they provide upon registration. Please note that there are currently no spidered sources for this information and it must be entered manually.
- My Placed Classifieds: If you have licensed Auto-ClassifiedsPro then a list of all ads the member has placed in the system can be inserted in the start page.
- My Classifieds: If you have licensed Auto-ClassifiedsPro then the member's 'Wish List' of items they've seen in the classifieds directory can be inserted.
- My Articles: If you have licensed Aardvark Publisher then a list of all articles placed by the user can be inserted in the start page.
- My Bookmarks: If you have licensed Aardvark Publisher then a list of all articles the member has bookmarked can be inserted in the start page.
- My Items: If you have licensed Aardvark Catalog then a list of all items in a user's wishlist can be inserted in the start page.
- My Calculator: You can include a pop-up calculator in the start page.
- My Mailing Lists: If you have licensed our CommunityMailer product then you can include a section in the start page from which users can update their mailing list subscriptions.
- My Recent Emails: If you have licensed our Auto-EmailPro product then you can insert a links to the last X emails a user has received in their Auto-EmailPro email account (where X is a variable set by the admin).
- My Ecards: Registered members are able to save ecards they receive (via our ECardsPro product) to be viewed later. You are able to include a list of these saved ecards in a user's start page for easy access.
- My Banners: If a member is also an advertiser on your site (making use of the AdMaster script) then you can include statistics for their banners/campaigns directly in their start page.
- My Buddies: CommunityMembers allows members to maintain a buddy list for use with the intra-site messenger. You can include a section in the start page listing a member's buddies along with an icon indicating whether they are currently on the site or not.
- My Current Events: If you have also licensed BAC Calendar then you can include a section in the start page where upcoming and current events from a member's calendars are displayed together.
- My Site Search: If you license our BAC Site Search product users are able to conduct searches across our entire suite of programs (returning matching forums, clubs, articles, etc). You are able to include a search form directly in a member's start page.
- My Directory: BAC Open Directory is a product that allows you to offer a customized version of the Open Directory Project to your members. You can also include the top-level of the directory directly in a member's start page.
Requirements: · 1. An Apache webserver · 2. A Unix or Linux-based system. We highly recommend RedHat Linux since Apache and Sendmail are perfectly configured "out of the box", and adding MySQL is extremely easy. · 3. MySQL 3.23 or later version. · 4. SSH (or telnet) access to your server. We must run the installation script in SSH (or telnet), and it is also valuable in troubleshooting script and MySQL problems. · 5. Perl 5.006 or later version. · 6. Access to a C-compiler (either cc or gcc) for CommunityWeaver. The program is written in Perl but has a small C component. · 7. Auto-EmailPro requires that your server support sending email from any username at your domain without setting up a pop3 account ahead of time. · 8. The following Perl libraries: · URI · MIME-Base64 · HTM The foll · MD5 · Libnet · LWP · XML-Parser & XML-RSS · String-Approx · Data-Dumper & Data-ShowTable · DBI · Msql-Mysql-modules · Time-HiRes · Compress::Zlib · SOAP::Lite
